Course Objectives:
(1) to consider the power, persuasion, and authorities that can become embedded in discourse as is mediated by network communication technologies, (2) to consider, choose, and execute methods to collect such discourse, (3) to rhetorically analyze such discourse, (3) and to develop and execute a rhetorical analysis that locates and critiques the power, persuasion, and/or authority embedded a specific document of discourse that has been mediated by a network communication technology .

Individual Assignments with Weights:
 
Undergraduate Students
10%: discussion participation
25%: first assignment
The paper must be 1-5 pages/250-1,250 words excluding all notes, bibliographic data, and/or works cited pages and in .rtf or .doc format..
The document directory must be a separate folder containing at least one documented online communciation.
The paper and document directory must be brought to class on a USB storage device on your group critique day
in and then left with your instructor after the class meeting. The paper must be in .rtf or .doc format. The media will be returned at the following class meeting.
25%: presentation
40%: second assingment
The paper must be 8-32 pages/2000 - 8000 words excluding all notes, bibliographic data, and/or works cited pages and in .rtf or .doc format.
The document directory must be a separate folder containing more than one related documented online communciation.
The paper and document directory must turned in on or before scheduled due date on a USB storage device.
 
Graduate Students
20% class participation
15%: first assignment

Attendance:

Full attendance is required of all students. Because the ideas and meanings in a course such as this emerge in the interaction between the instructor and students, students missing more than 2 course meetings shall not have participated at an acceptable level and may fail the course.
